margins is the home page of Andrew Fergus Wilson and a number of networks that I contribute to. Like a lot of intellectual work the content on these pages has been created from the margins. It is a space for voices and perspectives that are insufficiently concerned with the usual criteria by which academic labour is currently judged: job market utility or research council priority. It is a space for intellectual work, the amateur art of thinking deeply from an informed position rather than the professional pursuit of an academic career.
margins are where different spaces overlap, different possibilities intermingle and create newness. At least, that is what I hope for it. That newness may be nothing more than passing novelty or it may create something meaningful for someone. The point is to try, to think and talk about the conditions in which other worlds may become possible
